We offer a highly specialized Residential Support Program for adults with severe OCD and other anxiety-related disorders. Individuals in the Residential Support Program live in an independent living environment and participate in programming seven days per week. The setting fosters an atmosphere for change, while maintaining a safe environment where clients and staff work collaboratively toward treatment goals. The location of the clinic in a homelike environment increases the opportunity to practice exposures in realistic situations and to build confidence in maintaining gains post-discharge. We provide 24-hour staff support; however, residents are expected to manage their own activities of daily living (ADL’s). The Residential Support Program at Houston OCD Program is designed to assist individuals who are seeking to transition into a more productive lifestyle by providing practical life skills training aimed at enhancing independence and functionality.

Clients in the Residential Support Program will be assigned to work with a cognitive-behavior therapist. Clients will meet with their cognitive-behavior therapist two times each week for behavior planning and individual behavior therapy. In addition, family sessions will be provided one time per week as needed.

The direct delivery of care in the Residential Support Program is provided by an experienced team of residential counselors. The residential counselor's role is to aid treatment delivery, especially to enhance response prevention for clients with severe and treatment refractory OCD.  The staff is trained to help clients with OCD to enhance response prevention, block their rituals, assist “ritual free” activities of daily living, and to implement behavior therapy techniques.

Individuals who may benefit from Residential OCD treatment include:
  • Individuals with severe OCD or other anxiety-related disorders;
  • Individuals who are looking for a step-down from an inpatient program;
  • Individuals who have tried weekly outpatient therapy in the past but have not made sufficient progress;
  • Individuals who are currently utilizing outpatient therapy and are looking for a way to make more significant progress in a shorter period of time;
